Retrofit Reimagined Dorset
2024 – 2025
Wessex Community Asserts in partnership with Dorset Community Energy and People Powered Retrofit, led a feasibility project exploring the potential for a community-led Retrofit One Stop Shop service in Dorset.
As part of this work, we delivered Retrofit Reimagined Dorset, a programme of webinars and an in-person event designed to reframe retrofit as more than just a technical solution. The project explored how improving our homes can also strengthen communities, support local economies, and build a more sustainable future.
What We Explored:
A Shared Vision: What if Dorset’s retrofit journey was designed and owned by the people who live here? We explored the potential of a community-led Retrofit service for Dorset.
Warmer, Healthier Homes: How simple changes can make homes more comfortable, energy-efficient, and affordable to run.
Stronger Communities: How retrofitting can rebuild social fabrics, strengthen community bonds, and create local jobs.
What we did:
We hosted a series of four webinars and a community event in Bridport, bringing together residents, practitioners, and organisations from across Dorset.
Highlights:
– 1 community exhibition
– 4 webinars
– 204 participants
– 50 event attendees
